Jessica Stockholder Peer out to See July 14, 2010 – February, 2011 Parque del Buen Retiro, Palacio de Cristal http://www.museoreinasofia.es/exposiciones/futuras_en.html Jessica Stockholder's first museum exhibition in Spain will take open July 14 at the Palacio de Cristal of the Reina Sofia Museum. The artist has created a large-scale, site-specific installation in which constructions and assemblages of different materials both define the space and gain a new life from the architectural context. The colors of Peer Out to See are dense near the ground, moving up to the paler whiteness of light caught and bounced around by the panes of glass describing the arches of the ceiling. The installation will incorporate materials including loose pigment, charred wood, a pond with growing plants, and fans suspended in air.
